PROJECT #7: Kathryn Jeanes, Notions of Dollys Flat
Notions of Dollys Flat: a collection of cyanotype images.
This project will explore the intriguing shape of Dollys Flat (a Taree suburb west of Wingham) and the curiosities inside the boundaries. Having moved to Dollys Flat permanently 18 months ago, this project would allow notions of social, cultural and environmental realities to be documented, at times through fortuitous events, to enable me to create work for THE WALL project at the Gallery.
Throughout my art practice I have engaged with investigations of site and this project would be a great opportunity to establish a research network and engage with the audience. My photographic images or archival work has previously facilitated the process of my work when creating cyanotype images.
I currently have a collection of images taken on the property where I live at Dollys Flat and continue to document here. I anticipate photocopying images onto acetate and creating cyanotype prints for this project. Interested community members can view the process and potentially return with an image they would like to make into a print and add to the project. Sunlight is essential for the project. Printed images when dry create mini exhibition on the wall, promotion of alternative photographic techniques and creative endeavours with print.

Cyanotype is a photographic printing process that produces a cyan-blue print. Engineers used the process well into the 20th century as a simple and low-cost process to produce copies of drawings, referred to as blueprints.
