'Unseen Transitions' - Gemma Cross + Freyja Moon

'Unseen Transitions' is a collaborative exhibition exploring the correlating conditions of the environment and our own psychological experiences. Needle-felt sculptor Gemma Cross and textile artist Freyja Moon draw from their understanding of our local nature and mental illness to communicate a message of awareness and compassion.

The HOME Program

This exhibition is on show at Yalawanyi Ganya.
The Home: Aboriginal Art in NSW program is a partnership between Wiradjuri community at Wagga Wagga, The Arts Unit, NSW Department of Education, Wagga Wagga Art Gallery and the Art Gallery of NSW, and connects schools to local Aboriginal artists, community, language and culture.

Jewels of the Beetle World - Kevin Mitchell

Beetles are the most diverse and abundant animal group found on Earth. They constitute the order Coleoptera, within which there are currently 160 families, the majority of which occur in Australia. The images depicted here, photographed by Kevin Mitchell, represent examples of a single family - the Buprestidae, commonly called ‘Jewel beetles’.

ZOONOSES: Dr Nicola Hooper

Through drawing and lithography, Nicola Hooper uses fairy-tale iconology and rhymes to explore concepts surrounding zoonoses (animal diseases that can infect humans). The exhibition ZOONOSES explores how we perceive certain animals in the context of fear and disease.

Seven print artists have created works around weeds, creepy crawlies, blue bottles, pollution and unbidden thoughts. Most found by focusing on the unbidden one sees the inherent beauty and value in what was originally unwanted and uninvited.
