Natural Dyeing - Botanical Colours and Impressions

 

Join artist Jana Pearceova in an exploration of seasonal colour through the art of dyeing and printing with plant based materials. This workshop is an opportunity to create marks and patterns on paper and textiles.

In this 2 day workshop learn how to:

  • prepare fabrics and the steps involved in extracting colour from plants
  • create unique patterns with resist-dye shibori techniques utilise
  • various methods for printing and mark making with leaves
  • use mordants and modifiers to achieve a wide range of colours
  • keep records of your experiments

This 2 day workshop will give you a thorough introduction to the plant dyeing process. This workshop is designed for 2 days, but it is possible to join us for Saturday only - (please book via the 1 day workshop event page)

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

15 years and over

This workshop is suitable for beginners plus those with some natural dyeing or printing experience who want to learn more.

What do I need to bring to the event?

All tools, equipment and sample materials are included in the workshop fee.

Please note lunch is not supplied. We have a kitchen facility for tea and coffee, but you will need to supply your own lunch. (shops are located an easy 5 minute walk from the venue if you need to purchase lunch)
