The two day workshop will be an introduction to Traditional Japanese Woodblock Printing with a contemporary application. This relief printing technique uses non-toxic studio practices and all cleaning is done with water. You will learn the printing process with an emphasis on traditional technique.

The workshop is ideal for emerging and professional printmakers as well as artists in other disciplines who wish to extend their skill set.

About Roslyn

Roslyn studied at the National Art School, Sydney, Shillito Design School, Sydney, Slade School of Fine Art, London and Tokyo National University of Fine Art, Tokyo. She undertook a lectureship at the Slade School of Art, London. She taught at the College of Fine Arts, University of NSW, and spent time in Japan as a graduate research student looking at Traditional Japanese woodblock printing techniques while producing work as a contemporary artist.

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

This activity is recommended for age 16 and over

What are my transport/parking options for getting to and from the event?

There is a car park adjacent to the Gallery which is all day parking, and includes disabled car spaces

What can I bring into the event?

Roslyn will supply a materials kit for each participant at a cost of $20.00 (to be paid to Roslyn at the workshop). Kit would include block, drafting film and Japanese papers, pigments or inks, use of carving tools, barens etc allowing for an image on A4 paper size.

Lunch is not provided. Participants are welcome to make tea and coffee in our kitchen facilities, but will need to provide their own morning tea or lunch or afternoon tea. Eating facilities are a short 5 minute walk from the Gallery.
