Tales of the River

Come along to an evening event called Tales of the River on Thursday 29 August. The event is a chance to be inspired by an exhibition on the Manning River and share personal stories about what the river means to our community.

Catchment Coordinator Louise Duff, who is organizing the event in partnership with the gallery and the artist, says “We want to know what you love about the river and why? What’s important and where are the special places we need to protect? Your stories will help us look after what matters most.”
The changing moods and rich ecology of the Manning River are the subject of Kate Dorrough's current exhibition.
Kate explored the river and created an immersive experience for gallery visitors that includes sound recordings, video, abstract landscape paintings, ceramics and more. Fish and birdlife, the river landscape, Biripi connection to country and use of the river for dairy, beef and oyster production are all evoked by the exhibition.
“The connection between art and the environment has inspired this body of work. I was hoping from the start it would promote a conversation about how to conserve the river.” says Kate
Held in conjunction with the MidCoast Council Natural Systems Team.
