Shortcuts to Natural History Illustration workshop with Peter Schouten

Join us for a unique opportunity to be guided by Peter in a small class environment to learn the shortcuts he has established over 40 years of experience with natural history illustration and painting.

This is a 6 week course delivered in 2 blocks of 3 consecutive saturdays with a weekend break in between session blocks.

Session Times are Saturdays 10am - 1pm

Session Block 1 - Sat 17, 24, 31 August

Session Block 2 - Sat 14, 21, 28 September

Full payment of $360.00 (for all 6 sessions)

 

Peter will present 6 x (3 hour) vignette workshops that will cover the basic fundamentals of:

Sat 17 Aug: Composition & Fundamental Drawing - Represent your subject and place in context

Sat 24 Aug: Getting Started - Stretching your paper plus wet on wet application of watercolour wash

Sat 31 Aug: Textures - Laying down base colours and textures of your subject and surrounds

(weekend break no session Sat 7 Sep)

Sat 14 Sep: Detailing - Application of shadows, give life to foliage

Sat 21 Sep: Detailing - Feather texture, facial features and eyes

Sat 28 Sep: Fine Detailing - Background and foregrounds

Are there ID or minimum age requirements to enter the event?

This activity is recommened for adults and senior high school students.

What are my parking options at the facility?

There is a car park adjacent to the Gallery which is all day parking, and includes disabilty car spaces.

What can I bring into the event?

Please bring your own brushes, watercolours or gouache and good quality watercolour paper
