Sea of Bellies @ Manning Regional Art Gallery

Over the last few years, Beyond Empathy artist Jo Davidson trained Biripi & Woromi Maternal Health workers & local artists in the art of belly casting, as part of the Sea of Bellies project, which engages pregnant Aboriginal women into prenatal health awareness & support. When the plaster process is completed, local Elder women artists are invited to join the mums painting their belly casts & sharing stories & cultural knowledge.

The Beyond Empathy Sea of Bellies Toolkit is a share platform where you can see films of the process, development of the project since 2004, a gallery full of some of our beautiful painted belly casts & access information on how to make belly & hand casts yourself.
