Dilly bag weaving @ Manning Regional Art Gallery

Learn about traditional Aboriginal weaving in this hands-on workshop, with Aboriginal weaver Rachel Piercy. Weaving with native fibres from the East Coast of NSW, you will learn the dilly bag stitch or twining, to create your own dilly bag. During the day we will explore the cultural significance of material collection, and the preparation of natural fibres. Students will also learn how to make string, a beautiful two ply string which is fundamental to Aboriginal weaving.
