Join the curator of The Patient, Bec Dean for a cross-disciplinary conversation about various artworks and medical issues engaged with in the exhibition. Artist John A Douglas will talk about his trilogy of works dealing with kidney failure, his successful transplant operation and life as an organ recipient. Eugenie Lee will discuss Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (also known as Chronic Pain) and her performance, Seeing is Believing, which takes participants through the psychological and neurological processes that lead to the experience of pain. Fay Keegan, local author, therapist and amputee, will recount the moment her left foot was severed by a train in Sydney at age 11 and the painful aftermath both she and her family experienced. In 2011, after enduring a serve foot infection Fay made the decision to have her foot amputated.
