The 2017 Manning Art Prize: Naked & Nude

The biennial Manning Art Prize commenced in 1990, with entries open to Australian artists. The Art Prize features a partnership between Friends, which funds the Art Prize through the Friends Art Fund Trust, and the Manning Regional Art Gallery who organise entries and curate the exhibition. After 25 years, the Manning Art Prize has become a prestigious national event on the Australian Arts Calendar and is open to artists in a variety of mediums. The lucrative event this year carries a $21,000 prize pool. The winning entry for 2017 is The phone call IV, by Dagmar Cyrulla (pictured left)

Once again, Sydney Morning Herald Art Critic John McDonald, judged this prestigious prize. The winners are:

Major Acquisitive Prize $16,000 - Dagmar Cyrulla 'The phone call IV' oil on linen 122cm x 91cm

Second Prize $3,000 - Peter Churcher 'Kaue' oil on canvas 101cm x 74cm

The Robin Norling Bequest Prize $1,000 - Nick Mourtzakis 'Cadmium Green' oil on linen 44cm x 34cm

People's Choice Award $1,000 - Vicki Sullivan 'Back Study of Brianna'  oil on linen 93cm x 80cm
